One of the reasons Chanya is actively pursuing the idea of running her own salon is that all the other students she studied with over the last 2 years have their own salon. This is creating a peer group pressure angle on Chanya as she was one of the top students and they all say she is a better stylist than they are.
Truth be told, she is just a perfectionist and she is scared of losing face if things don’t work out. I’m also being cautious of the venture as I don’t want to be left holding the bag if it doesn’t work out and there is always that risk here in Thailand.
Anyway, she has shown me some budgetary figures with an 80k outlay for furniture and fittings so now it boils down to the reoccurring expenses like shop rental and utilities. We take a drive out to Krathum Baen and have a look at a possible location at around 8k baht per month.
We then head back to look through the Sanam Luang 2 weekend market and some other furniture stores to confirm some prices for her furniture and I look for some Japanese room dividers which should give Chanya some privacy when I’m running the livestreams.
