My Thai Translation Apps Samples

This is the sample page of various handy phrases used every day in Thailand. I’ve taken the source material from http://www.thai-language.com/

I’ve then put each phrase through a conversion on https://www.thai2english.com to get the romanized version of the text and the direct word translation. This is to show how the language structure is vastly different to what we commonly use in English

Last of all on each example I’ve shown the most common English translation for each phrase.

This page is set up to give a baseline voice sample of Thai and English which is then used to test the various translation apps available to see which one works best. Of course, there will be many other factors that can help or hinder these translation apps, such as dialect, pronunciation, gender, device used and of course, the actual speech to text engine on the various devices. I am using my Samsung Note 8 for all my tests which uses the Samsung voice to text engine. Other phone manufacturers will use different engines so I do welcome any feedback on how your app and phone scores.

For the score, each correct translation will get 1 point
For a close match, I will give 1/2 a point
And if the translation cannot be understood or is wrong, 0 points.

Each app will get 3 scores, one for Thai to English (34 points max) one for English to Thai (34 points max) and finally my rating on the overall application with a 10 point maximum.
