It’s 14 degrees in Pilok and fresh air

We start our 3rd day in Pilok Kanchanaburi with 14 degrees Celsius and no power! Well, we are sort of on the border of Myanmar and quite some distance from the next township. The power did come back on after last nights outage, but today the outage lasted until we checked out. Breakfast was hot and satisfying but the search for brewed coffee was a strikeout.

Mobile internet is virtually non-existent and you need local power for the Wi-Fi to work so we head up the hill to take in the views overlooking Myanmar. Pilok is an old Tin and Tungsten mining town. The mines ran dry over 70 years ago, but the locals stayed and have now built up a small community that specializes in homestay tourism for mostly Thai’s or so it seems. There isn’t even a 7-11 in the town and no signs of a petrol stop anywhere.

After checking out, we check out the Chokkradin Waterfall and the tree houses at Thong Pha Phum National Park.
