Today’s video is a little slice of real suburban life in Thailand — with all the chaos and charm you’d expect.
Chanya has been run off her feet lately, and this is our first proper chance to get back to our lunch-and-shopping routine. I let her sleep in for three hours, and she still tells me to hurry up — classic! 😂
She already has a lunch spot in mind, so we hit the road — with the usual camera antics along the way. From there, it’s shopping, and then we’ve got a very specific side quest: pork ribs. She brought some home from a night market earlier this week, and now I’m hooked. With her mother up in Sukhothai for the foreseeable future, cooking duties fall to me — and ribs are officially on the menu.
Our lunch venue today is The Sine Café — a place we’ve been wanting to try, but it’s usually closed on Wednesdays. Lucky for us, it’s Thursday! It’s a charming garden-style café with a pond, and we grabbed a shady outdoor table to start with. While we’re waiting, I share some thoughts about breaking out of the digital echo chamber — and offer a word of warning: only purge your cache and cookies if you’re prepared and have a good password manager!
Eventually, we move inside because Chanya wanted the air-con (fair enough, it’s hot!). I went for a lemon pork salad, while Chanya ordered green curry and some crispy chicken sides.
On our way out, I explain briefly why Mum’s not with us — Grandpa is in the hospital on oxygen. He’s over 90 and a long-time smoker, so it’s mostly a waiting game now. Not much more to say, but we’ll keep you posted.
Next stop: Big-C for our weekly shop. The car park was packed. I circled three times before finding a shady spot. No idea why it was so busy — maybe everyone thought it was Wednesday too. I skip filming the shopping itself, but I do include the final bill for reference.
Then we head to the Sai Tai Center night market on Putthamonthon Sai 1. I was surprised to find a ticket dispenser at the entrance — looks like we’re paying for parking now! 😄 We head into the tented section and turn the corner… boom — there it is: “Giant Grill – Grilled Ribs & Steak”. Chanya wastes no time placing our order.
While we wait, we take a wander through the market. This place is huge — I’ll definitely have to come back and do a full video here. Chanya’s a little down (she’s got friends coming over soon), but she cheers up quickly when I buy her a cute outfit. We pick up our ribs and head home.
So, that was our adventure for the day — lunch, life, love, and legendary ribs. 🍖💚
