Suburban Thailand – Comfort or Isolation?

Comfort or Isolation?

That’s the question I’m asking today as I share a very real look into daily life here in suburban Thailand — the quieter side of expat living.

The video kicks off with a morning ritual — espresso brewing and a little perspective on how life in a big 4-bedroom Thai house compares to my old life back in Australia.

🌱 We head into the garden for a walk (papaya shoots and holy basil included, of course), followed by a house tour that shows what suburban living really looks like here.

🎮 Then it’s into the “study” — aka the man cave — where I show my multi-screen Discord setup. To many, Discord is still a mystery, but it beats Facebook hands down for keeping in touch with community.

🛵 I gear up and head out for a scooter ride around our local neighbourhood, testing a chest-mounted GoPro for the first time — with predictably clumsy results. 😅

From 11:00, we explore the real heart of suburban Thailand: the mom-and-pop shops, roadside stalls, and quiet daily life that define this way of living.

🇹🇭 It’s calm. It’s personal. And if you’re thinking of moving to Thailand or living outside the tourist zones, this is the reality you’ll want to consider.

Let me know what you think — would this feel like freedom to you… or disconnect?

And yes — I blame my YouTube coach (you know who you are) for making me do the whole call-to-alms thing 😄
