Pepper Lunch in Thailand – Why Our Wednesdays Work So Well
This Pepper Lunch Thailand outing kicks off our Wednesday errands in a way that’s become pretty typical for us — lunch first, shopping second. There’s actually a good reason Wednesdays have become our default day for getting things done in Thailand.
A Pepper Lunch Before Shopping
We start in the Central Nakhon Pathom carpark, talking about why Wednesdays are such a popular day here for errands and hairdressing, before wandering through the ground level of the mall. Chanya quickly decides she wants to eat before window shopping, so we pass various eateries, checking prices and options along the way.
I spot a Pepper Lunch Thailand restaurant and suddenly realise this might actually be the last time I ate at one — right here. I give a quick rundown of how the food works, arriving sizzling hot on a cast iron plate and cooking right in front of you. Chanya reminds me (again) how old she’s getting, which seems to come up more often lately.
When the food arrives, it’s seriously hot. Chanya chooses the cheese version, which promptly sticks to the plate — cue laughter, self-cooking steak, and the age-old question: if this were the US, would I still be expected to tip?
After lunch, we wander through the mall enjoying the Christmas decorations and visuals, before I explain the real reason for the trip — it’s mum’s birthday tomorrow, and we’re doing a bit of gift hunting. That leads into a quiet reflection on how, as we get older, gifts matter less, and time with family and friends matters more.
Downstairs, Chanya spots more dresses and handbags (naturally), and we finish the outing with our weekly Big-C Om Yai shopping run before wrapping up and heading home.
