We had a great time away for the new year, but now it’s time to get back to regular life. Of course, one thing Chanya loves to do is go shopping, so we head down to the local Big-C again.
She calls me at 5:30 pm and says she needs to go pay her 3BB internet bill. I said I paid the one for the house a few days ago and she asks me why I didn’t pay her shop one. I said well it’s your shop sweetheart and I don’t use that internet so it is a cost of running your business. If you’re going to live here in Thailand, you need to learn where to put your foot down when it comes to bill paying.
I think this is one of the things that I see so many foreigners fall for when they move here. To them, it seems such a small cost that they simply don’t want to make their partner unhappy. Unfortunately, all these small costs add up and then they wonder where their money has gone. If you plan to live here in Thailand, you need to stick to your budget and don’t let pouty faces change you. In the long run, you will gain more respect from the Thai’s if you show restraint
