In today’s video, we’re diving into a topic inspired by a comment on one of our recent videos: age gaps in relationships and how they’re perceived differently in Thailand compared to the West. Chanya and I discuss the Thai perspective on age difference, where relationships are often judged more on harmony and mutual benefit than on age. In contrast, Western views tend to focus on romantic ideals and social equality, often making age-gap relationships more scrutinized for potential power dynamics or different life stages.
We’re filming from Way X, a cozy spot with good food at reasonable prices. It has a ‘café-style’ service, where you order at the counter and pay upfront. It’s not the typical Thai experience, but it made for a relaxed lunch with Chanya as we explored this thought-provoking subject.
Join us as we chat about the differences, enjoy lunch, and reflect on why age gaps in Thai relationships are met with a more open mind.
