Today is Macha Bucha Day, a special Buddhist holiday in Thailand, but before we get into that, Chanya surprises me with an AI-powered translator device—and my mind is blown!
She hands me one earbud, starts speaking Thai, and within seconds, I hear real-time English translation. The crazy part? It only cost 350 baht! Instantly, my brain races through the endless possibilities of a world without language barriers. I share my thoughts on where AI is heading and why I believe AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) might already be here—just waiting for the right moment to be revealed.
For lunch, we take a 35km drive to Olivia Café, a hidden gem that looks like a plain white box from the road but turns out to be a beautiful riverside homestay. The setting was calm and picturesque, with a floating pontoon on the Tha Chin River. I ordered spaghetti carbonara while Chanya went for one of her Thai favourites. The food was delicious, and after our meal, we even got a quick tour of the homestay’s 10 rooms!
To wrap up the day, we visit Wat Bang Phra, a well-known temple famous for its hand-poked monk tattoos (Sak Yant). Chanya stops to pay tribute, and I take in the unique atmosphere of this historic location.
What do you think about AI translation and AGI? Are we ready for a world without language barriers? Let me know in the comments!
