Market day and a new Washing Machine

Chanya wasn’t feeling up to going to class today. She received news that the shop location she was applying for was given to another Thai. This is one of the annoying things we face where a 3rd gender Thai often gets passed up for things like a lease or a job simply because Thais don’t feel secure with the 3rd gender class of their society. They are all smiles on the outside, but they simply don’t feel comfortable with them in any official capacity.

Anyway, I know a trip to the market will lift her spirits, so we head off to Sanam Luang 2 for a wander around.

Chanya did mention that Mother was hand washing because our old machine had blown the pump motor and it was going to be a few days before they could get the repair guy around to fix it. This is now the 5th time the machine had broken in the last 4 years so I said we’ll go check prices on a new machine. After an hour at the Mall, I settled for a new Samsung machine and told Chanya to keep it under her hat so we could surprise Mother when it arrived. If you saw my Facebook posts from that day, it was quite a surprise that’s for sure.
