I only had a couple of days notice for this pool party getaway, but that seems to be the norm here in Thailand. Long term planning seems to be an exception to the Thai daily life, but when we do get out and party it is a lot of fun. This 2-day excursion was organised by Chanya’s friends from the Hairdressing School where she studied. She has kept close ties to all her friends over the last couple of years and I’m still meeting more of them.
We arrived around 2pm on a Tuesday afternoon and picked our bunks. The girls soon set about getting the food ready for the evening with a selection of seafood and papaya salad. If you ever get invited to a seafood BBQ, I’m sure you’ll love it. After food and a good serving of beer, everyone let their hair down and went swimming. This pool villa location was a new experience for me as I’ve not seen anything like this setup before. It’s a bunkhouse style accommodation but the indoor pool and spa is something unique. The location has 11 of these bunkhouses all with different artwork but still the same overall design. The music was loud and I did get a chance to use my waterproof housing for the Sony FDR-X3000.
All up, we had a great time that night and the next morning we checked out a few of the shops where we found coffee. That was a definite change of pace from the previous night and the girls took the opportunity to take plenty of selfies!
