Christmas isn’t a traditional holiday in Thailand like it is in the western countries, but the Thai’s still like to put on the light show. The whole Christian aspect of the holiday has no reference in Thai culture so it’s only a result of western marketing.
Mind you, it was still a pleasant experience and we did enjoy the trek into the city.
