Would I still choose Thailand if I were retiring today?
Short answer — yes, but I’d definitely do things a bit differently.
In this video, I reflect on what led me to pull the trigger on retiring to Thailand back in 2016, what’s changed since then, and why you need to make a very honest risk assessment before taking the leap.
We look at the economic reality of retiring abroad on a fixed income, what Thailand offered us then (and still does now), and how our story — especially with Chanya’s challenges as a transgender woman — helped shape our decision.
We’re also at Central Salaya Mall today, picking up a MAC compact for Chanya after a cheeky dig from someone at a recent party. The Thai trans scene can be fierce, and a girl’s gotta look her best!
There’s a lot going on in the world right now — and for many, retiring overseas seems risky. But when you weigh it all up, Thailand might still come out on top… depending on your values, your budget, and your personal story.
