Happy Songkran 2025! 🇹🇭
In this episode, we travel up north to Si Samrong, Chanya’s hometown, to celebrate Thai New Year the traditional way—with family, food, and fun.
The video kicks off on Day 2 at the farm, and things look a little different this year… It’s raining. Yes, raining on Songkran—something locals told me never happens. It’s the first time in years that they’ve seen this kind of downpour during the festivities. Between this and the recent earthquakes, you have to wonder if global weather patterns are shifting again.
Once the rain cleared, we made a supply run to the local village market, where signs of the storm were everywhere—muddy paths, fewer vendors, and a soggy but resilient community vibe. I genuinely love these village markets. There’s something wholesome and grounding about how people here look out for each other—something that feels almost forgotten in the West.
Finally, we made our way into Sukhothai for the annual Songkran street party—and yes, it was chaotic, soaking wet, and an absolute blast! The energy of Songkran never disappoints—even in the rain!
