A Big Day Out in Bangkok – Why We Still Love It Here

Come along for a full, unfiltered Friday in Bangkok – from the MRT ride into the city to a series of meetups with old friends, new faces, and familiar haunts.

I start out at Lak Song MRT and transfer my way into EmQuartier Mall where Jerry (fresh off a Mediterranean misadventure) joins me for a chat over coffee. He’s living proof that Thailand still has the edge when it comes to value and quality of life, even if the global narrative says otherwise.

From there, it’s over to his condo to check out his electric drum kit (yes, even in a condo!). Later in the day, we catch up with Shawn, swing by Red Fern Bar to say hi to Fern (family by Thai standards!), and wrap it all up at my 6pm monthly expat meetup at the Down Under Bar.

There’s plenty of food talk, real conversation, and yes — a bit of chaos too. But that’s what makes life here fun.

Thailand may be changing, but for many of us, it’s still home.
