Don Wai Floating Market | Transgender Relations and Thailand’s New Marriage Laws

Today, Chanya and I spent a relaxing day at Don Wai Floating Market, exploring the vibrant selection of fresh seafood and delicious Thai street food. This hidden gem, nestled along the Tha Chin River, is famous for its traditional Thai cuisine at affordable prices. With the market less crowded on a Wednesday, we had a peaceful experience compared to the usual bustling weekends, where it’s often bedlam!

For lunch, I had my eye on a crispy deep-fried sea bass from one of the riverside restaurants. The food here never disappoints, and we even picked up Chanya’s mom’s favourite durian snack!

Along the way, I took some time to discuss the recent developments in Thailand’s marriage laws, particularly the groundbreaking same-sex marriage ruling that was introduced just last week. These changes are monumental for the LGBTQ+ community in Thailand, and I also talk about what this means for foreigners building relationships with transgender individuals—especially when it comes to securing long-stay visas.

Whether you’re here for the mouth-watering food or curious about Thailand’s evolving legal landscape, this video has something for everyone!
