Rideout to Bang Kachao Botanical Garden

Bang Kachao is an artificial island formed by a bend in the Chao Phraya River and a canal at its western end. You will find it easily on google maps if you use the satellite view and zoom into Bangkok where it sits to the south-east of the centre of the city. It is sometimes referred to as the “green lung of Bangkok”. There are lots of interesting places to see here and today we go to the Botanical Garden and a few other locations.

The Botanical Garden is located in the northeast of the island so we first stop off at a coffee shop and then hire our bicycles. I must admit, the condition of these bikes leaves a lot of room for improvement, but they got us moving. The garden itself is in need of some tender loving care compared to some botanical gardens I’ve seen but it was a pleasant enough ride.

We then headed off to the local water market in the area and found a sweet coffee shop to cool down in. After that, we then checked out a place called the Ozone Cafe and Homestay. One of Koi’s friends said it was worth a look and I can certainly see the appeal of the place for some people. We then headed to a Temple where a few bikers friends live and dropped in on them. By this time in the afternoon, it was getting late so we parted company and headed home.
