Bangkok Motorcycle Expo and a chat with Afe about Philippine life

My buddy Afe is spending a month here in Bangkok while he takes care of a few business things. He’s spent the last few years living in the Philippines with his transgender girlfriend and we have been having interesting discussions about the differences. As we both have an interest in motorcycles, I suggested we meet up at the Bangkok Motorcycle Expo. The show this year seemed smaller and less well organised as I’ve seen over the last few years. It’s still worth the commute to come into the city to see it and the pretties on the stands.

As we wandered around, it was interesting to get his views on the differences he has seen between Bangkok and where he lives in the Philippines. Of course, it’s not easy to make comparisons given that he lives on one of the small islands, but he has been to the big cities there too.

All in all, it was a good day out and a great conversation on and off camera with him. Mind you, I don’t see myself moving to the Philippines any time soon. I do love Bangkok even with all the annoyances I encounter.
